Some insects are not your friends.

Specifically, my children brought home not-friend insects from school: head lice.

Kathy and I, planning a relaxing Saturday after doing some shopping, come home to find that I need to go spend a hundred dollars (that I don't really have) on medications, and then come home to carefully apply it to all four kids (and later to Kathy, just to be sure, though I'm not apparently showing any signs of the things) and meanwhile Kathy's doing superheroic loads of cleaning and laundry. Blah. We didn't eat until 8pm, and there's still laundry running now.

Euwww. The joys of parenting. I think our long-haired daughter managed to catch them three times during her schooldays, but of course, we treated the whole family just to be on the safe side. I don't remember the cost, however. I'm pretty sure I didn't spend much more than a fiver on whatever the recommended stuff was at the time. I'm itching just writing this. Good luck!

Yeah, our kids had it only about five or six years ago and my niece gets it every couple of years so far. We had two doses of lice killing shampoo (per each of two kids) and several combthroughs with tons of hair conditioner and we were done -- I'm sure it was nothing like $100.

The buttloads of laundry/cleaning was still required, sadly.

Tea tree oil shampoos help with lice also. I had to put that to the test last year due to some children I was watching for their mother. Bonus: I found that I am allergic to most of the prescription and otc lice killers, so finding out I could use tea tree really helped.
