Note that this story is very spoilery, in its essence, for later portions of Portal, so if you haven't read Portal's E-ARC or are waiting for it to come out (early May), you may wish to just bookmark it and read later.

A retrospective set there would be a lovely lead in to the possible Portal sequel.

I'm lucky enough to have read the E-ARC, but I'm surprised that's been published before Portal, as it is almost painfully spoilery.
