I may actually look into this -- I've read his foundation series when I was a teen -- but I didn't try his robots series.

Actually your commentary kinda reminds me of that new Karl Urban tv show -- without the 'going to loose my job to a machine' angst. (Each cop has to have a robot partner vs. a human one). Some people hate it -- but i'm not minding it. :)

Oh, Baley definitely has that angst; on appearances, Daneel Olivaw is the PERFECT detective and if robots become popular on Earth Baley is very much concerned that he'll be out of a job.

Throughout the series, though, Baley continues to prove that humans have some advantages... and that robots like Daneel are more human than people think.
