Always nice to read a good con report for a con I couldn't get to, and I'm glad you seem to have enjoyed your first stint as GoH. :-)

For those who've never read it, I'll second the Eye of Argon comments. The quality of the writing is everything that's said of it, as is the vocabulary. Since it was written by a 16 year old kid working without an editor, this is hardly surprising. (Has anyone written an alternate history where Jim Theis grew up to be a famous fantasy writer?) It's worth a read; where else will one find a protagonist with a lithe opaque nose?

Glaring directly down towards her was the stoney, cycloptic face of the bloated diety. Gaping from its single obling socket was scintillating, many fauceted scarlet emerald, a brilliant gem seeming to possess a life all of its own. A priceless gleaming stone, capable of domineering the wealth of conquering empires...the eye of Argon.
