... Lessee...

Writingwise: I finished the first section of "Demons of the Past" -- it's around 40,000 words, about to break into Novel territory. I think it'll be between 150,000 and 180,000 by the time it ends. (Theoretically it could be a trilogy, but I prefer to keep things fast-moving when I can).

Eric and I finally have a decent overall outline of Boundary Sequel 1 and, after several false starts this weekend, I'm a couple thousand words into the story, tentatively titled "Threshold".

Health: overall I have been trying to keep mostly to my resolutions. Caught a REALLY annoying bug this past week that kept me feeling that I had a lead ball in my stomach and drained all my energy. It finally started to go away Saturday and was gone Sunday, so I thought "Cool, I'll be able to make up that missed time this week".

HA!

Winter hit. With a bunch of soggy snow, heavy and deep enough to warrant the Snowblower.

Except.

The Snowblower didn't. The electric starter works fine, but the engine just refused to run. So I had to clear the driveway myself. Note that this is a driveway with a small attached parking lot. It can park four cars comfortably out of each others' way, and could hold up to eight or nine cars if they all didn't have to go places without swapping out. Note also that I was just finishing recovering from previously-mentioned bug. Note also that I am an EFFORT INDUCED asthmatic. This reduced me to barely videogame intelligence for most of the day, and lots of pain (in back, which is also a vulnerable and weak point -- see prior posts from, um, last May-June).

I do not feel guilty about not going on the exercise machine today.

CP stayed home today. The bus was about an hour late or more, and reports we were getting from the other buses were not encouraging. So we didn't send him out. Instead, he stayed home. Among other things, he and Gabriel played outside and made a truly heroic-sized snowball -- the ball was taller than Gabriel when done.

I've been running CP and Kathy in a D&D game off and on for the past few months. I finally recovered enough tonight to give CP a short session, in which they reached the climax of the adventure they've been on since they started. I hope they're both enjoying the game; it's mostly for CP -- Kathleen isn't a big fantasy game fan, she prefers SF/modern/horror stuff and is playing simply because the game works a lot better with at least one experienced player.

Getting ready to go to Genericon this weekend. Before that, I have a business trip to Washington. And fast working this week to make up some lost time.

Still contemplating I-Con. I'd really like to go. There's a lot of reasons TO go.
Ah well, I should go get some sleep....

[[[hugs]]]

I can vouch for the fact that Demons of the Past is going to be an exciting book.

Arrgh on the health and back issues. New snowblower time, definitely.

Good on the D&D.

Try to get some rest (even if it means not PBEM updates.)

Have a good time at Genericon.

If you do decide to go to I-Con, let me know and I'll try to get there too. (I still think you guys should go to Lunacon, but I know Eric and Terry won't be there, even if lots of your friends will.)

Hi there!

Well, I'm here on behalf of the PPC. (If they'll permit it. If not, disregard this. Utterly.)

Some time ago, you posted a comment, which said:

"Let them come for MY Mary Sue. He'll kick their asses! :)"

It was replied to like this:

"They only go after _really_ bad Mary Sues.

From the bits they quoted, I really, really, really, don't want to look at the original stories...

Besides, your Mary Sue is intelligent and cute. He would probably talk them out of it withoug having to kick their asses. :)"

I must disagree. In fact, the cutest, most intelligent Marty Stus (Males are Stus. Only females are Sues.) are, in fact, the ones we go after first. Seriously, the cooler and more endearing they are, the Sueier they are. So, if you don't mind (You seem like a pretty good sport...), would you hand over your story ID/link? It would be most appreciated. If you don't, the PPC'll hunt you down and kill him anyway. Seriously. It's what we do. But your cooperation makes this so much easier, don't you think?

However, if this is an original story, and not fanfic, disregard this post. The PPC only goes after badfic. So... thanks for your time!

I'd give you the PPC address, but we've had our fair share of trolls lately, and it wouldn't be wise to invite more. One can't be too cautious in these hard days, you know? So if you decide to drop the link off, just leave it with the PPC HQ. They'll take it from there. Thanks again!

I think you can find copies of "An American Gamer in Gondor" and "Wild Card" through Google groups.

"An American Gamer in Gondor" takes place in an alternate Middle Earth, and "Wild Card" in a Saint Seiya universe.

If you prefer, I can email them to you, if you give me an edress.

Sea Wasp doesn't currently have a web page, and as his Loyal Lieutenant, I send out the fanfics upon request.

Just what I've been looking for...

You mean the Saint Seiya stories are still out there somewhere?! Very cool - I've wanted to read them again, but since the site was down...

Could you email me offline to discuss? My email is ashkara12@yahoo.com . Saint Seiya was one of the first animes I ever got into...

Thanks,

Ash

Shana, Panamanian St. Seiya fan here. I actually found Wasp's stories so good that I thought (if someone animated this, I would die a happy Tin Saint (you know those goons that get killed in one hit during the Sanctuary chapter in the anime) but unfortunately, Wasp's site is down. I'm only missing the Snow Queen story but I did manage to save Resurrection, Cry Wolf, Fallen Angel and Wild Card. I was wondering if you had a copy of that particular story. I would very grateful if you could send it to me to farosemenah@cwpanama.net

To all Saint Seiya fans...remember to buy the St. Seiya Hades chapter DVD...maybe someday we'll get to see the Zeus Chapter.

I've always seen it as "Marty Sue". But to each their own nomenclature.

are, in fact, the ones we go after first. Seriously, the cooler and more endearing they are, the Sueier they are.

Well, Erik Arisia and Erik Nygard ... they both have some cool, but they aren't themselves cool. Endearing... some characters think they are. Others, well, Erik Nygard's had two of the good guys try to kill him.

So, if you don't mind (You seem like a pretty good sport...), would you hand over your story ID/link? It would be most appreciated. If you don't, the PPC'll hunt you down and kill him anyway. Seriously. It's what we do. But your cooperation makes this so much easier, don't you think?

My Loyal Lieutenant is taking care of that matter.

However, if this is an original story, and not fanfic, disregard this post. The PPC only goes after badfic. So... thanks for your time!

Note, however, that I consider ALL my writing "fanfic" because it's inspired by SOMETHING in one way or another. In my original stuff, I just have to file the serial numbers off more. And my self-insert/Marty Sue character hasn't made an appearance in the published stuff yet.

Note also that as a professional (paid) author, a gamer, an anime geek, and a Whovian, if you go after my self-inserts and fail to amuse me, I reserve the right to destroy the entire PPC in whatever manner I find pleasing. Probably with about a dozen separate self-insert super characters.

Hi Ryk,

This is Dan Busha--a name you might remember from the past. I discovered your name while browsing around the Genericon site (I ran a table there back in 2002)--congratulations on your status as Writer of Stuff and becoming a Daddy for the third time!
And yes--I thought Narnia was the best book-to-film adaptation I've EVER seen! Perfect from start to finish.

Dan B.
