Your comment about running through Word's spell checker not counting as editing doesn't go *half* far enough.

As I keep telling folks on the fiction sites I frequent, spell check is the enemy. It will suggest a correctly spelled word, yes. But that doesn't mean it's the word that belongs in that spot in your story.

One otherwise well-written story I'm currently reading suffers from the writer using "neckless" instead of "necklace".
