Date: 2017-03-21 05:58 pm (UTC)Yes, attempting to run a game based on a property will do one of two things: Boringly reproduce the original (if the GM believes in railroading as much as CSX) or go thundering off into unmarked territory if they let the players actually PLAY. Neither of my Harry Potter campaigns stuck to the books' events for, well, more than a session. (Not surprising when the PCs and significant new NPCs include Wednesday Addams, Hadji Quest, Jade Chan, and Edward and Alfonse Elric)
