No Good News about Jim Baen...

The Bar has a notice from Jessica Baen and Toni that Jim's prognosis is grave. What else I know on Jim's condition from other sources, unfortunately, does nothing to encourage me to expect a turnaround. I am still HOPING for one -- there is no finality yet -- but things do not look good for the founder and living spirit of Baen Books.

My religious beliefs prevent me from worrying for Jim, but I'm mourning with the rest of the SF/F community, and I do hope and pray we get him back. God ends up with ALL the great people... we only get them for tiny little snippets called "lifetimes."

And it's selfish of me, but I'm especially sad that I've never had the opportunity to meet him in person.
