... thanks to everyone who replied to my questions RE DNA databases. And a special "Oh thanks so VERY much" to [livejournal.com profile] autopope for his careful work making sure to emphasize the creepiest aspects of the technology, as if I wasn't already aware of it and trying to ignore it and stay in my nice Pollyanna world.

Autopope's kind and generous, compared to the abuses that such a database can be (pessimistically) expected to face.

- Loan approval - is this person likely to live long enough to repay the debt they're incurring? No? DISAPPROVED.

- Insurance - Is this person likely to need expensive treatments? Yes? DISAPPROVED.

- Jobs - Is this person likely to take lots of sick days? Yes? DISAPPROVED.

Etc.

On, and please, don't tell me that your rights will be 'guaranteed' by the federal government. For example, look at the 'Federal Fair Debt Collection Act' that all collections people in the US have to follow. All those, except those who're collecting on federal debt - federal student loans, IRS, etc.
