I missed my wife. I missed my kids. I missed my own house.

I did not miss the snow and the wind cutting through me.

I want to move to California.

But then you would have earthquakes and droughts and smog.

And I couldn't come visit. :(

Welcome back!

Neither [livejournal.com profile] kshandra or I can recall the last quake we felt. At least five years. Destructive quakes are rare. We're going on 20 years since the Loma Prieta quake, and almost as long for Northridge. so really, they aren't a concern.

Droughts? Not since the eighties. Hell, the last few years we've had more problems with too much rain with the attendant floods.

Somg really isn't the problem it used to be.

Y'all get winter every single year.

Having lived in LA for 18 years, and in Rochester for um... 5, I have to say that each environ has its own unique... opportunities.

The great natural disaster of LA is traffic. However, we also specialize there in: Hellgate incidents (most people don't have souls there.), Fires, Floods, Droughts, Tornados (yes, we've had a few), Snow (mind you, the relative quantity is staggering, but the total effect is the same), Earthquakes, the Los Angeles Dog Trainer, Hollywood, Traffic, Traffic, Smog, Lung Diseases, Homeless, and so on and so forth.

In Rochester: Snow. Wind. Cold. Ice.

LA has more variety. Both ... have challenges.

I'm currently in Andalucia, living normally in Greater Manchester and I think I understand a little. But only a little, because Britain never gets that cold.
