I am slowly (fingers crossed) recovering from this infection/asthmatic episode, but it still feels "fragile" (i.e., like it could go wrong again very easily) and I am being very cautious. The regimen the doctor put me on included prednisone (the big gun), Duo-Neb, Advair, my old standby theophylline, and the albuterol inhaler for emergency use.

I am still not breathing entirely freely, and I felt utterly wiped yesterday after only about 5 hours at work. And I can't afford to NOT work for the next few days, because I have two unmovable government deadlines.

Hoping to be well enough by the weekend to at least work on the outline for "Grand Central Arena".

Fingers crossed.

Good luck. I had prednisone for an acute allergic reaction, and boy did it make me feel fabulous. Hope it's very good for you!

But, per rec.arts.sf.written, your only real hope to get better is to start walking everywhere, right? *rolls eyes*

All the best.

... And now for something completely ... odd. My mom-in-law is an RN with a few interesting suggestions to help relieve asthma. I pass along one of them [in hopes that it might help - and at worst it shouldn't -hurt-].

She recommends getting an 'eye-cup' [clear plastic cup thingy that can be found in the general shelves of a pharmacy - or even in a well-stocked mega-grocery vitamin/OTC remedy aisle. Then get a non-medicated mild saline eyewash.

Put eyewash in eye-cup, hold gently against one eye & irrigate eye. Clean cup - then do the other eye. Blot eyes gently [and it helps if you can lay back while doing this for a few minutes].

The theory is that this will not so much clean the eyes, but help add moisture to the back of the sinus cavities and help reduce sinus infections and help keep them from returning - as well as by the overall effect - help improve one's breathing in general.

She recommends this for sufferers of asthma, sinus infections and pollen/dust allergies.

Just finished "Boundary" (enjoyed it) and thought I'd look you up.

I use a Vicks Personal Steam Inhaler with a Vicks menthaol pad to help me "feel" better. Good luck. You've got your hands full.

Some links for you - testing
