The gift that will give... someday.
Dec. 25th, 2006 07:05 pmI had something on my Wish List which one of my family duly purchased for me. Alas, I cannot use it.
Specifically, Civilization IV for Mac.
Upon looking at the box, it appears my current machines are far too puny and girly-man to handle the marvelousness that they offer.
So I will have to wait until whenever I can afford to get myself a new machine to play it.
However, it's still a good gift. It's been a good Christmas.
Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, Etc., to you all.

Date: 2006-12-26 03:04 am (UTC)I know of exactly what you speak ... I found a copy in an Apple store I believe two days after the official release date, and saw the specs I'd read about in comp.sys.mac.games.strategic were no cruel hoax; the PowerBook I'd bought two months earlier wouldn't play it. I've since downloaded the Civ IV Demo, but haven't quite worked up the courage to open it up and see if the Minimum Specs really are minimums, or just preferred minimums. (I ran -- not very well, but acceptably -- Railroad Tycoon II on a computer with a third of the minimum processor speed and I think half the video memory, to the delight and surprise of one of the programmers.)
In the meantime at least I'm not through my Victoria fix, and that'll run even on steam-powered Macs ...
