... sort of a simple, real-world analogue of the CryWolf! device.

And yes, it'd be very useful for Bigfoot hunters, etc., who actually want to see if they're finding something real.

Its original main use though is for inspection of houses (for energy audits, etc.) at a cost per unit thousands less than standard IR cameras. (the market version of the device costs less than a single standard 320x240 IR *SENSOR*, let alone the camera that uses the sensor.)
